Garment Sewing Fundamentals
Saturday, September 26 | 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Ready to move beyond simple projects and start sewing clothes you'll actually wear? This one-day workshop is designed to build the essential garment sewing skills every sewist should know!
Through a series of guided samples, you'll learn professional techniques used in garment construction while creating a binder of reference swatches to take home. We'll cover seam finishes, hems, pockets, zippers, bias binding, elastic casings, and more—giving you the confidence to tackle garment patterns with success.
In this class you’ll recieve:
Step-by-step instruction
A printed garment sewing reference binder
Fabric and supplies for all technique samples
Printed handouts and notes
Techniques covered include:
Basic seams
Finishing seams
Finishing raw edges
Patch pockets
Hems
Elastic casings
Centered zipper installation
Bias binding
Rather than completing a single project, you'll leave with a personalized sewing reference you'll return to again and again whenever you start a new garment!
Becky Jane studied pattern making and design at Apparel and Arts in San Francisco, and has been teaching sewing and pattern drafting for 10+ years. She’s also the owner of By Becky Jane where she creates and sells custom apparel and accessories.
