Indigo Dye + Sew Some Shorts!

$245.00

Saturday, July 25 & Sunday, July 26 | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Join us for a two-day workshop where you'll make a pair of elastic-waist shorts from start to finish, then transform them with natural indigo dye.

  • On Day 1, we'll sew a comfortable pair of shorts using a simple pattern that's great for beginners and experienced sewists alike. You'll learn garment sewing basics including cutting, construction, waistband installation, and finishing techniques.

  • On Day 2, we'll head into the world of indigo. You'll experiment with shibori folding techniques and clay resist to create unique patterns on your finished shorts before dipping them into an indigo vat. No two pairs will be alike!

This class is perfect for anyone who loves making things by hand and wants to try something a little different. You'll leave with a wearable piece of art and a better understanding of both garment sewing and natural dyeing.

All materials and patterns are included.

This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to connect with slow craft and create something meaningful. All levels of experience are welcome, this class is for students ages 18+.

Becky Jane studied pattern making and design at Apparel and Arts in San Francisco, and has been teaching sewing and pattern drafting for 10+ years. She’s also the owner of By Becky Jane where she creates and sells custom apparel and accessories.

Kristin Arzt is a natural dyer, educator, gardener, and designer who teaches workshops and leads retreats across the country. Her work explores the intersection of textiles, plants, and sustainability, with a focus on making natural dye practices accessible through education. A lifelong learner and registered yoga teacher (RYT200), she is currently completing her third yoga teacher training and often weaves these teachings into her creative workshops. When not teaching, she grows seasonal dye plants at home, shares seeds with students, and continues to expand her practice through study with renowned dye artists and educators from around the world.
