2-Day Petal Dress Workshop
Friday , April 10 | 6-8:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 11 | 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Learn to sew the Petal Dress by Softbodies Studio in this two-day garment sewing workshop! You’ll leave with a thoughtfully designed dress featuring a fitted bodice, curved waist seam, and a softly gathered skirt.
This class is ideal for confident beginners who are comfortable using a sewing machine and ready to level up their garment sewing skills. Over two days, we’ll work through the full construction process together, including cutting, bodice assembly, skirt attachment, and finishing details, with plenty of individualized support along the way.
To keep the class focused and manageable, we’ll be sewing one guided version of the dress, with support for sizing, cup options (A/B or C/D), and skirt length selection (mini or midi). Fit and construction guidance will be offered throughout the workshop to help you feel confident in both the process and the finished garment.
All materials are included, so you can arrive ready to sew. Each student will receive:
Fabric selected specifically for the Petal Dress
A printed Petal Dress pattern to use during class
A digital copy of the pattern for future makes
We’ll cover pattern reading, fabric layout, garment measurements vs. body measurements, and construction techniques specific to bodice-and-skirt dresses. This is a small, supportive class with lots of encouraging support and hands-on instruction!
Becky Jane studied pattern making and design at Apparel and Arts in San Francisco, and has been teaching sewing and pattern drafting for 10+ years. She’s also the owner of By Becky Jane where she creates and sells custom apparel and accessories.
