Follow your instincts to compose an original scrappy mini quilt without a plan (also known as improv!). We will assemble the fabric pieces quickly and intuitively, then slow down and learn the simple and meditative art of hand quilting, adding texture and depth to our composition.
You’ll learn:
Simple techniques for composing a mini quilt top from fabric scraps
Big stitch hand quilting techniques
Several possible binding techniques for finishing your work
All materials are included, but you’re absolutely welcome to bring your own fabric scraps if there are particular colors or prints you know you want to include in your quilt. White Perle cotton size 8 thread will be provided, if you have another specific thread color or weight you want to use, bring that along as well!
Feel free to bring your own machine or use one of the studio machines! No previous quilting experience needed, but participants should be familiar with how to use a sewing machine. Ages 16+
Julia is offering one 50% scholarship spot for each of her workshops for people who self-identify as needing financial assistance, for any reason. The scholarship spot is first-come, first served.
